Ex-JP Morgan trader arrested in Spain
US prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Mr Martin-Artajo
'London whale' traders charged in US
JP Morgan pays $410m in energy case
Former JPMorgan employee Javier Martin-Artajo has been arrested by Spanish police in connection with the "London Whale" trading scandal at the bank.
The 49-year-old is wanted in the US for allegedly altering bank records to hide $6.2bn in trading losses.
A Spanish police statement said he was arrested in Madrid after he was located and asked to turn himself in.
Spain's High Court, which is usually responsible for deciding extradition requests, has taken on his case,
American prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Mr Martin-Artajo and fellow ex-JPMorgan trader, Julien Grout.
The pair are alleged to have marked up the market value of an investment portfolio to hide its plummeting value. The shortfall has been attributed to Bruno Iksil, a trader who became known as the "London Whale".

"A managing director at Goldman Sachs has been charged with raping a 20-year-old woman in an East Hampton home he rents with his wife.
The East Hampton police arrested the banker, Jason Lee, 37, after arriving at the home in response to a reported disturbance.
"While investigating, officers learned that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted inside the residence where several people had gathered," the police said in a statement.
Goldman Sachs confirms that Lee is an employee at the firm and is on leave following the charges. He is the head of a group within the equity capital markets division that handles convertible securities. Last year the group was named the top "structured equity house" by International Financing Review.
Lee is also a former chairman of the board of Safe Space New York, a nonprofit group that helps at-risk youth and their families, according to a former associate."
