Your Excellency Dr Shaaban
By chance I was watching a programme called "Linatawasal" yesterday on
Syrian Satellite TV (I do not have much details because I tuned in the
middle of the programme). It is about encouraging people in the
Middle East to communicate with each others and learning about their
cultural heritage (the so called audio-visual cultural memory of AL
MOUTAWASSET (Middle East) that is at risk of being eroded because the
old TV videos and tapes are damaged beyond repair and therefore
leading to the great loss of our precious heritage. The programme was
therefore advocating that the young generations of our country should
learn the Middle Eastern culture of '23' countries through browsing
the web site that has been specifically established for that purpose.
The programme gave an interview with a couple of French scholars
promoting the idea on Syrian TV. Whilst I was watching I remembered
one of the British MPs during their recent meeting with you and the
media asking you why one could not get Facebook at the Sheraton? Your
prompt and smart reply was focused on a very important issue that
whilst we are at ware with our neighbour there are attempts to
communicate with the our people through the back door. I feel that
what you said could also apply on this new way of encouraging our
young generations to learn and communicate with others (unwanted)
through the same back door that is as wide as the Facebook! it this
time THE SYRIAN SATELLITE TV. I feel that it is probably worthwhile
looking into this programme in full and appreciate your thought and
feed back on this issue particularly the ID of the "23" countries
involved in this exercise!

Dear Mr. Wafic
It is me who should write to you to
