On Monday, the 26th, the FUP filed a civil action before the 14th Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro, against Chevron and Transocean. Through the action 4166-86.2012.4.02.5101, the Federation seeks the cancellation of the concession contracts for exploration and production of oil and natural gas from Chevron and the prohibition of the performance of Transocean in Brazil. .... The lawsuit also asks the FUP both companies are ordered to indemnify to the State for environmental damage, and the values equivalent to the damage caused to the taxation of oil (mainly royalties), caused by the delay in production resulting from leaks, be compensated the Union, the State of Rio de Janeiro and cities that receive such funds."
